Putnam County is located about 50 miles south of Jacksonville on U.S. Highway 17, thirty miles west of St. Augustine on State Road 207, forty-five miles east of Gainesville on State Road 20 and ninety miles north of Orlando on U.S. Highway 17.
Daytona International Airport and Gainesville Regional Airport are both within an hour’s reach of Putnam County. All have rental cars available.

The avid hunter can find deer, wild boar, duck, quail and dove in the county as well.
The St. Johns River flows through the heart of Putnam County, the beautiful Atlantic beaches are just 30 minutes east, including world-famous Daytona Beach, Putnam County is located less than hour from Jacksonville, the state's second largest metro area, and Gainesville, home of the University of Florida, and less than 30 minutes from St. Augustine, Florida's oldest city. Walt Disney World and the Kennedy Space Center are less than 2 hours away.

Nature enthusiasts enjoy hiking along the Florida Trail which runs through the heart of Putnam County. Also home to the Ravine Gardens State Park which consists of 85 acres, offers picnicking and nature trails. The park has more than 100,000 azaleas of some 50 varieties that are enhanced by 22,000 other sub-tropical plants.

Boating, sailing and water skiing are an exciting part of family recreation in this area, both on the river and the numerous lakes located in Putnam County.
